I recently spent a wonderful afternoon at a Sunday afternoon ‘pizza party’; my host and hostess had a real pizza oven in the garden! My husband and daughter were busy, so I took my son along. He could eat pizza every day (me too!)
Unfortunately the party was bang in the middle of my last cleanse. Luckily there was a huge bowl of leaf salad, so I ate that instead. I also brought along a papaya, and someone else brought a watermelon so I ate quite a lot, actually. I just didn’t eat pizza.
One of the things I love about going to a party where I don’t know anyone is the chance of meeting interesting new people. Several enjoyable conversations later, I found myself chatting to a young woman who works in the music industry. She paid me a compliment about my skin while noticing that I was eating a plate of salad, and commented that I’d probably been doing that all my life.
My new acquaintance asked my age so I told her. Her response was to ask whether I’d had botox! (I’m often taken for being younger than I am but it was the first time anyone asked me that!)
I explained about the cleanse and said that I haven’t been doing that all my life, but what I have been doing for many years is having homeopathy, taking algae supplements and using organic skin-care. I can’t say for sure, because I haven’t done any random-controlled trials or anything, but I think that the combination of the three has helped me stay looking young.
I’ve been looking more deeply into superfoods recently, and the more I study, the more I realise how incredible they are.
What is Spirulina?
Spirulina is a blue-green micro-algae with an amazing nutritional profile. It’s 65-70% complete protein (this is the highest of all food) and contains 18 essential amino acids, essential fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and trace elements.
Why is it good for me?

These last few months I’ve taken even more than ever before, and I can definitely see and feel the benefits.
