Immunity, me and homeopathy

immunity, homeopathyI struggled with immunity all my life until I found homeopathy. I guess I was what used to be called ‘a sickly child’.

I suffered with recurring tonsillitis infections from early childhood through into my twenties.

I was prescribed many courses of antibiotics.

Once I started my first job as a primary school teacher, I realised I needed to find a way to stay healthy as I didn’t want to be taking time off work because I was sick with my recurring sinusitis and chest infections.

During my first term of teaching, I caught pneumonia and was really ill.

That was when I knew I had to do something, but I wasn’t sure what.

STEP 1 | respiratory infections

Luckily for me a friend suggested I try homeopathy. In the days before the internet, I had to ask around until I found someone. I remember going to a clinic in north London one evening after school and talking to a man wearing a tweed jacket.

I went to a specialist homeopathic pharmacy to collect my first prescription. To my amazement, it seemed to work quickly and I was delighted to find that my sinuses cleared up quickly without needing to take antibiotics for the first time ever.

I didn’t get a chest infection that winter, for the first time in as long as I could remember. I was surprised but really pleased because I didn’t have to take time off work.

Step 2 | Cystitis and thrush

A year or so later I found a different homeopath near to where I was living, so I started regular treatment for a while. I no longer had problems with my sinus infections, but I was still struggling with recurring cystitis and thrush.

On her advice, I started to take probiotics and algae along with homeopathy. Soon I found that these were better too. Best of all my periods settled down and I had more positive energy and direction in my life than ever before.

Step 3 | motherhood

Homeopathy became my first port of call whenever I was ill, which wasn’t that often any more.

After my daughter was born we started to see our homeopath together. I learned a lot about childhood illness and how to treat it naturally, and I found that it gave me the support I needed as a busy working mum with a lot on my plate.

Step 4 | Career change

Being free of struggles with my health and immunity gave me the energy to focus on developing a new career.

My  interest in homeopathy had grown and I decided I wanted to train as a homeopath myself. I loved my training and took part in as many additional clinics and tutorials as I could. I even enjoyed writing essays and preparing for exams.

on-going homeopathy supports my whole family

While I do self-prescribe and I also treat my family, I very much value the support we have from our own homeopath. We all have sessions a few times a year; not only when there is something wrong.

I can honestly say that both my children have great immunity.

Neither has had antibiotics (my daughter is 18!) and my son has only had Calpol once – for pain relief when he hurt his arm.

My immunity story helps me to help you

One of the things I love about working as a homeopath is seeing how I make a difference to the quality of life of others.

I know from personal experience the helplessness of low immunity, being in a cycle of recurring infections and not knowing what to do about it.

I am thankful to homeopathy for what it has given me in my life, and I love my life as a homeopath.
