Summer is finally here, with longer days, warmth and sunshine for us to enjoy.

It’s also a naturally busy time, with more opportunity to be outside in the evenings and weekends. Summer is a time for events such as weddings, fairs and festivals.

With all this activity, if you’re not careful, you might end up over-committed.

Stress and overwhelm can start to happen, which isn’t much fun for the people around us either.

You might need to try a bit harder to make time for yourself when it’s summer.

I know that when I take care of myself I feel calm and happy.

If you want to have more to give to your family,  friends and even your work, you might want to make time for some summer self-care.

A checklist to help you make the most of a new month

I don’t enjoy feeling busy, and so I have small habits that help me feel more calm.

One way I do this is to give purpose to each new month with a simple plan.

This serves as a kind of road-map and helps me make time for myself as well as make the most of my time.

I didn’t used to be so organised, I was more of a multi-tasker and I used to be proud that I was quite good at it.

The only thing was that I didn’t always feel in control and at times I would get really overwhelmed and stressed.

Rest more, stress less

Ask any athlete and they’ll tell you the value of rest.

Continual striving and pushing is depleting. This applies to work, exercise, partying, anything at all.

When did you last take a break in your daily life?

I’m talking about proper time to rest.

Rest can seem a little ‘unproductive’ but it’s essential for your well-being.

Making regular time for rest will help you create a strong base on which to build everything else.
