As part of my general ‘take care of myself and be happier’ plan, I like to make things with my hands.  Having a small creative project on the go is something I really enjoy.

I learned to knit from watching my Nan. She always had a project on the go. All her friends and neighbours would give her their leftover yarn which she kept in a box under her sofa and she used it to make blankets for various animal rescue centres. 

Whenever she came to stay she brought a bag with knitting and slippers. We’d sit on the sofa together watching whatever was on TV and she patiently taught me how to knit.

It took me a while to take it up again, and I was determined to knit more than a simple square…

How to be more productive

If there is one major cause of stress, it is a busy life. Too many things to do, and not enough time to do them in.

I know that when I’m feeling stressed, it’s because I’m over-committed. It’s hard to say no to things when you want to do them.

I’m still working on that.

In the meantime, I do my best to make the most of the time I actually have.

Autumn is a time when immunity and health can be vulnerable, so now is a great time to start thinking about how to strengthen yourself in preparation for the colder, darker months.

The best way to build resilience and immunity is through everyday self-care.

Self-care is not being selfish, it is being caring towards yourself.

When I take care of myself I feel stronger and more positive, plus I feel able to give more to my family, my friends and my clients.
